Welcome to Day two of DrupalCon 2010 in Copenhagen. Check out the photos from today.
DrupalCon 2010 Copenhagen 8-25 - Aug 25, 2010
Here's a review of the sessions I attended today:
- What you need to know about grids that 960 won't teach you
The title was changed to "Designing Grid Systems", and dropped on us as we entered the room. The upshot of this presentation is really high end conceptual thinking about thinking of designing web systems. The process of presenting us with the wealth of historical considerations of design is intense and albeit obtuse. Watch this with an openb mind and don't expect any take-away any time soon. Hopefully this will inspire you and your work at a new level. 3 stars? 5 stars? Let me know what you think. - Drupal project management tools: time to build our own dogfood
This session was all about Open Atrium, and building project management tools using Drupal. There is a code sprint scheduled for Friday, to work on some of the OpenAtrium tools. The jist of this session is a request for feedback and participation in the OpenAtrium project. The most interesting part of this peresentation was the amount of push-back by a number of the participants during the Q&A session. There were some heavy opinions about opening the Drupal help repositories to unfiltered documentation. Unless you are keenly interested in this topic, this session can be skipped. 2 stars. - Building Conference & Event Websites in Drupal with COD
With IceCamp on the Twin Cities horizon, this seemed to be a very interesting session to attend. The Drupal COD Project is ConferenceOrganizing Distribution that comes in a Distro version or a module install version. It provides a set of organizing tools for payment and non-payment based conferences. As we roll ouit IceCamp, this must be evaluated as a starting point for our efforts. Unfortunately the presentation is almost painful with technical gaffows and mis-queues. Look for links and find support on the web, unless you have time and patience for this session. 1.5 stars.
Unlike yesterday, the sessions today were not as mind-blowing, but it was well worth being here. I'm looking forward to getting back on track tomorrow!
