Who says Friday the 13th needs to be unlucky? We may well have broken the chain. Everyone left today's session having accomplished a goal or two. Take a look at the online notes or read the transcript below to share in the luck.

Friday Lab Hours Session - August 13, 2010 / 10AM-12PM CDT

Friday the 13th super-lucky edition (Barry's 13th birthday was on Friday the 13th or so he has always alleged)

Cary Walski

  • Discuss Kids and Grown-Ups background and theming
    • talked through theme file placement and structure, theme overrides and CSS

Maryann - this has been such an unlucky day for me in the past (Novembers friday the 13th - someone ran into me at a stoplight and totaled my green car) --

  • TCWebpros - day to remove all profiles and start over where to start  what do I do, etc., etc.
    • deleted the existing profile content type
    • deleted the fields still attached user accounts which deleted their content -- but the tabs are still there - how do we get rid of those?
      • may need to purge the content from the database
  • jerrysautosalvage.advantagelabs.com
    • getting my 2 column grid in 960 language widths
      • experiment by adding Semantic Views and add grid CSS classes the view rows -- this will allow you to eliminate the HTML table structure being output by the Grid row style you're currently using and have a pure CSS based grid for your display
  • sandbox.mngastro.advantaglabs.com
    • getting the full biography to only show up on certain views
      • issue is most probably with the Component module's configuration mixed with the syntax used to rewrite the output of fields in the view -- the current field serving as the link to the popup of the bio field is the node id which is, by default, never empty therefore not hidable when empty -- looking at other ways to get the desired display and behavior
    • moving the image up on this view to align with the title (think that is just making the title a specific width, but want to doublecheck
  • finally there is sunshine in between the deluges - so I'm on my way - see you there!

  • I keep getting a notification that people are signing up for an account but the form is not filled out and the fields are mandatory. Because I have not even put the block up for a newsletter sign up, I don't know what they are filling out. It almost always contains a name and email address. Some of these I beleive are legit, most are spam. I need to figure out what form they are filling out.
    • Installed  Mollom to protect the user registration form
  • Create a poll
    • created in sandbox and placed poll block on front page to test
  • My front page teaser images were not wrapping the text around the image despite the css telling it to.
    • It was a matter of moving the image field above the body.
