These are Drupal sites that describe and showcase other Drupal sites-- great for getting ideas and learning both how Drupal can be used and how to use Drupal.  Google and Drupal.org site searches can find more specific use-cases and lists, but this will get you going:

    Explains the development and function of Drupal sites by category of function.  Many are in-depth and provide recipes for replicating.
