Are you looking for a website for your nonprofit? Or - are you a developer trying to create a nonprofit website? This class will provide that - plus more:
- A configured nonprofit-specific website
- 5 weeks of small group training in Drupal, a powerful content management system
- 6 months weekly support by core, experienced Drupal developers
- A content managed system that you update yourself - no more expensive HTML updates!
- ALL for a lot less than what you would spend to have a professional create the site
Drupal is a powerful way to build a website that provides current information, engages community, and provides a platform for powerful functionality. This makes Drupal the ideal platform for a nonprofit organization. However, getting started in Drupal at a reasonable cost can be daunting.
Advantage Labs has been a full-time Drupal development and hosting firm since 2005, and we want to use our experience to smooth this process for you. We are looking for 6-8 small to mid-sized nonprofits to participate in a class where you learn Drupal while getting the functionality that nonprofits need. Collectively, you can benefit from our experience - and each others - to build an affordable, first-class nonprofit site.
Nonprofit Drupal Training PLUS Your Own Nonprofit Website
Each nonprofit will have a short intake with Advantage Labs to determine basic organizational site needs. We then tailor the classes based on the use-case scenarios obtained from the intake sessions. During class, you will work on a specially-tailored website where you will learn to set up, use, and maintain these features using Drupal.
At the end of the series you will have the core of a basic, functional website (with a standard Drupal theme), complete with features created from both our experience and the synergistic input from other attendees and class dialog. You will then have 6 months in our Alliance program to finish up your site - with experts in the background to help you. At that point, you should be able to go live as your organizational website. All this, and you will learn to:
- Know when to use Drupal and how a "content managed" site works.
- Add information such as web pages, news, and user profiles.
- Categorize and extend your information for anything you want: Job postings, case studies, or even podcasts and videos.
- Allow users to create logins, participate in online discussions, and create their own content.
- Maintain control over your user's content and activities through a powerful permissions system.
- Create powerful searches and listings of content such as events calendars, news feeds, or user profile searches.
- Reach out to your community through newsletters, automated mailings, and viral marketing.
- Track results through statistics and analytics.
- Extend your site by finding and installing modules and find out how to select ones that are useful and well-supported.
- Save costly mistakes by making decisions that work well in the long run.
- Learn the basics of creating a design that matches your brand and your style.
All in a multi-faceted learning environment:
- One intake session to determine your use-case scenarios for a nonprofit website.
- Five weekly 2-hour training sessions in our Minneapolis office conference room.
- Your own Drupal website where you can immediately apply the class techniques and build out your site. These Drupal sites start with the nonprofit install profile, which provides an excellent starting point based on our own best practices combined with the classes nonprofit needs. As you learn more, you can apply your skills to fit your needs, and grow this site into a fully-featured nonprofit or community site.
- Suggested exercises for you to explore on your own between sessions.
- Drupal Alliance program for 6 months (a $900 value), which includes our regularly scheduled weekly "Lab Hours": time to learn and work on your site with access to the Advantage Labs staff and other clients. These are currently scheduled each Wednesday from 4-6 PM, but we may add additional time slots in keeping with demand.
- 6 months of free web, email, and mailing list hosting (included in the Drupal Alliance program). After the 6 months, you can choose to continue with the Alliance Program ( $150/month ), select another hosting plan, or migrate to another host. We don't keep you locked in, so your options are endless!
This class is ideal for seasoned web professionals just getting into Drupal, and nonprofit staff managing an existing or upcoming organizational site. At the end of it all, you will know how to create a content-managed nonprofit Drupal site complete with functionality that will draw users in, keep them informed, and keep them coming back!
SIGN UP NOW, SPACE IS LIMITED: $1500. Because of the intense training, we can only offer this to a maximum of 8 attendees. This price includes the class, your nonprofit's basic website, six months of our Developers Alliance Program* (a $900 value), PLUS your own Drupal sandbox.
