On this sunny spring day, it almost seemed like everyone's questions were going to be answered before we got through introductions. All the better to get out and enjoy the weather! But of course, there's always new stuff to learn and do:
- Tim has a US map divided into regions in an imagemap, and is looking for something more dynamic and functional. Before breaking up, we all brainstormed ideas. As it turns out, the most aesthetic and functional choice is to keep the hard-coded image map code and link it to views-arguments urls. He also learned more about GMap from Kay.
- Lindagail is looking to be notified of new content posts so she can moderate them right away. Not surprisingly, Notify can do this.
- Kristin explored Service Links for her community site. She's also super-psyched to be working with panels and groups.
- Jay wanted to change how links to authors and news partners work. We discussed alternatives such as adding text fields to every article ( which might mean lots of broken links ), or linking to a consistent source ( not flexible enough ). We talked node references, which will probably go a long way.
- Kay had a productive time getting lots of stuff done, and is still exploring organic groups.
- Tammy learned how to set up blocks independently of block-providing modules. Mad props to Kristin for helping her out on this one.
All in all a productive week! We even spilled over the 6:00 mark, but thankfully there's still time to cash in on the longer spring days. Next week, some of us will be at the Lullabot workshop, but the rest of us will be holding down the fort and possibly heading to the meetup later.
