While some of our Lab Hours regulars were filling their brains at Lullabot's training session, the rest of us stuck it out and tackled our projects:
- Lindagail set up the Notify module so that her users can publish content for approval, and is learning more about SEO. She's also getting up to speed on working with our SVN interface.
- I talked a lot about Node References with Steve, Tim and Kristin
- Steve followed along with the node reference discussion, and discovered new things to learn
- Kristin has some more Bio questions, and wants to embed videos into content and comments. One way of doing this is to add the "Full HTML" filter to the allowed input formats, and have people paste the <object> tags into their comments. Since this is less than ideal, we talked about using the embedded video field and Node References to attach videos to other content types. She also learned how to show teasers in her views.
- Tim wanted print friendly pages to work, but they weren't sending all of the page's content. This was because he had referenced nodes in a block, but the print friendly module was not sending blocks. Instead, he's going to use ViewField to include the referenced nodes on the printable item.
- Jay and Jake worked on article archives and mailing list services for the Daily Planet.
There was some great interaction, and it was fun to break up into little demonstration groups this time around. Next week, we're looking forward to hearing what some of the Lullabot students had to say as things return to normal.
