Tip: Turn off Firebug when using TinyMCE

I just discovered that Firebug, the indispensible web development plug-in (add-on) for FireFox, does not play well with TinyMCE, the WYSIWYG tool that can be used to provide rich text editing in text blocks on websites (including this one).

I've been adding tips to this site using FireFox and was having all sorts of trouble using the link button in TinyMCE's toolbar. As soon as I disabled Firebug-- not just minimized its window but actually going to Tools>Firebug>Disable-- I suddenly ceased having this problem.

So, if you use FireFox, Firebug and TinyMCE in Drupal and are noticing some funky problems with rich text editing, try temporarily disabling Firebug.
