Welcome to DrupalCon 2010 Copenhagen!

We actually made it!  This is my first post from the big show - DrupalCon 2010 Copenhagen

I made an intro video, which you can catch here - DrupalCon 2010 Copenhagen 8/23

Here's a rundown of the sessions I attend on Tuesday, the first day of the conference:

  • Drupal Commerce: Setting up Shop on Drupal 7
We met up with Ryan on the bus to the conference this morning! This is a must see presentation on the new Drupal Commerce module.  Anyone with an Ubercart website should take an hour and hear what is happening with this fork of Ubercart for Drupal 7.  5 stars!
  • The Drupal Distro for Publishers - OpenPublish
The creators of OpenPublish presented an overview of the OpenPublish Drupal distro.  The distro contains a lot of great modules and features that might be great for the right kind of Drupal install.  Highlights are the use of an Author content type, instead of authors and Drupal profiles, and OpenCalaisAPI for creating taxonomy based content listings.
  • Theme Preprocess Functions: an Introduction
Carl provided us with a great working presentation of how to get started with writing preprocess functions.  You will need a little background in writing PHP functions, and some knowledge of your theme files to get started.  Armed with information with this presentation will send you flying!  Also introduces Conceptual CSS, great stuff.  Excellent!
  • Designing UI with Seven
What's the difference between UX and UI?  Nothing, it's all about how it feels for users.  This is a great presentation that presents a great set of basic questions that should be asked of all your site.  The bullets from this talk are one-liners that will knock you out.  Go forit, well worth your time!

Maybe it's beginners luck, but I struck gold on all of my presentations on my first day of DrupalCon 2010.  Stay tuned for tomorrow's report!
